Srinagar: Litigants will now be able to see the status of their pending cases at the touch of a button on a screen with the Jammu and Kashmir High Court starting an Electronic Facilitation Centre for providing speedy justice.

Chief Justice of JK High Court F M Ibrahim Kalifulla inaugurated the Electronic Facilitation Centre in the High Court complex on yesterday, an official spokesman said here on Wednesday.

The EFC was part of the latest technology, similar to a bank ATM, where lawyers and litigants could track their pending cases without assistance from any person. The move will save litigants their time and money, he said.

A similar centre will be opened in Jammu Complex soon.

Earlier, the HC had installed a round-the-clock interactive Voice Response System in both of its wings using which information on the status of a case can be sought by the general public through a telephone call.
