Jammu border village protests against firing

Residents of a border village in R S Pura sector of Jammu district today held demonstrations to protest the latest incident of firing by Pakistani troops on Indian posts.

Jammu: Residents of a border village in R S
Pura sector of Jammu district today held demonstrations to
protest the latest incident of firing by Pakistani troops on
Indian posts.

About 70 residents of Abdullian village in the sector
held demonstrations to protest the indiscriminate firing
from across the International border yesterday saying panic
had gripped the villagers as their houses had also come in the
line of fire, official sources said here.

In the second ceasefire violation in two days, Pakistani
troops yesterday fired at a forward post along the
International Border (IB) in Jammu where the BSF also foiled
an infiltration bid by militants.

The villagers alleged that the firing had killed one
of their cows and wounded two cattle.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later sent his ministers R S
Chib and S S Slathia along with senior officers to enquire
about the welfare of the people living close to the border.
