"Security has been tightened on all the entry and exit points of the city, the Quick Reaction Teams and the mobile PCR vans have been kept on high alert," Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu, Kathua range, said.

A number of police personnel deployed on the infiltration routes, too, have been increased, whereas police stations at the bordering areas in the region have been asked to enhance the vigil, he said.

"Deployment of police personnel has been increased on all the infiltration routes. The police stations and posts at the bordering areas have been asked to enhance their vigil," Beig said.

Vital installations across the Jammu city, including the bus stands, the railway station and airport have been put on high alert besides the night patrolling has also been increased in the city, Beig added.

Security has been tightened ahead of New Year eve celebrations also, he said.

The Border Security Force, too, has increased its vigil along the International Border in the region to thwart any infiltration bid from across the border.

"In wake of the increase in the incidents of cross border firing from the Pakistani side which is mostly aimed at facilitating the cross border infiltration, security has been tightened in and around the international border," a senior BSF officer said.
