Ghulam Hassan Mir, Minister for Agriculture Production said that Kisan Kendra complex would be completed by March 2015. Government has sanctioned Rs 5 crore for construction of three storied Kisan Kendra at Talab Tillo in Jammu, he said adding that on the completion of the building, free accommodation would be provided to the farmers who would visit Jammu from other districts for agriculture related issues. Kisan Kendra will go a long way in providing the opportunity to the farmers to upgrade their knowledge, skill and awareness in agricultural field in a number of ways, the Minister said here yesterday. He stated that besides fulfilling the long pending demand of the farmers for reasonable accommodation at Jammu, it will also become a venue for interaction between the farmers and exchanging of knowledge and experience for the mutual benefit of them. Mir further said that the complex will have accommodation facilities and conference hall where training programmes, seminars and awareness programmes for 250 farmers can be held at a time. In addition, it will also provide accommodation to the stay of experts, consultants and trainers who visit the State for training and research activities connected with development of agricultural knowledge and technology. He informed that the complex will also have computer centre where farmers can upgrade their knowledge about the advancement made in the field of agriculture technology through the internet and will be able to access data beneficial to them from various sources like ICAR/Agriculture Universities and departments of the agriculture sector.
