Jammu: Lashing out at Jammu and Kashmir government for its failure to address the issue of denial of LPG cylinders to the consumers, the PDP on Sunday held protest demonstrations and demanded immediate issuance of the cylinders to the hapless people.
Led by the party vice president, Jammu district, Vikram Singh, over 200 PDP activists held a protest demonstration over the crisis of LPG cylinders. "The state government has failed to address the cooking gas problem which has hit the state and created worst situation with the onset of winter," Singh told reporters here today. The government has reportedly decided to issue only three LPG subsidised cylinders for the remaining part of current year with a price of unsubsidised LPG cylinder fixed at Rs 961, he said, adding that earlier the government had said the unsubsidised LPG cylinder would cost Rs 720. The PDP leader asked the state government to work out a strategy to ensure the smooth LPG supply to state particularly the areas with harsh climatic conditions. "Since most of the people in Jammu and Kashmir live in sub zero temperatures, the limited supply of subsidised LPG cylinders would affect the state badly," he added. Meanwhile, the Hindustan Shiv Sena also raised slogans against the crisis and threatened to launch protest demonstration in front of oil companies and gas distribution centres. PTI
