Jammu: Playing down the recent examination scam in Jammu and Kashmir, in which education minister has resigned; state Congress chief, on Sunday, said the state government is capable of "rectifying wherever anything has gone wrong".

"The system in the given situation has to run fairly. In this situation, wherever anything has gone wrong, Chief Minister will rectify it. He will take care of the institution," state Congress chief Saif-Uddin-Soz told reporters on the sidelines of a public rally.

Soz was replying to a question about the examination scandal in education department.

On Friday, the education minister Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed had resigned from the council of ministers in the wake of examination scandal involving his foster-son.

Soz further said "he (Omar) is aware of developments -- where there is need to rectify -- he will rectify. Wherever there are procedural faults etc--he will rectify them."

"He will take care of the Institution (education) and he will do that--where in this particularly department anything wrong has gone, he will correct it," the JKPCC chief said.
