Srinagar: In a major boost for the
horticulture sector in the Kashmir Valley, the state
government has exempted incoming empty trucks from toll tax to
facilitate shipment of fruits to markets across the country.

Trucks will exempt from paying toll for three months till
end of December this year and the decision was taken at a
Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief MInister Omar Abdullah here
last evening.

The relief came following a demand by fruit growers, who
cited problems they were facing in sending their produce to
markets outside the valley.

In other decisions taken by the cabinet, the state
government has approved three new treasuries in Kishtwar,
Poonch and Kargil districts of the state, the spokesman said.

The treasuries will be established at Dachhan in
Kishtwar, Mandi in Poonch and Paisuru in Kargil districts.
