In yet another fudging of Date of Birth case by IPS officers in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government has detected that an officer of the rank of DIG had submitted fake birth certificate to extend his service.

Jammu: In yet another fudging of Date of
Birth case by IPS officers in Jammu and Kashmir, the state
government has detected that an officer of the rank of DIG had
submitted fake birth certificate to extend his service.

"We have detected another case of fudging of DoB by a
senior IPS officer. DIG Traffic (Jammu) Kamal Saini, a Kashmir
Police Service officer who was later inducted into IPS in
1994, had changed his DoB from 1954 to 1955," a senior state
Home Department officer said.

The government has approved reversal of his DoB in the
records and appropriate action will be taken against him, he
said.

Earlier on February 18, the state government forcefully
retired IG Security Farooq Ahmed after a panel, probing cases
of senior police officers involved in fudging of birth
certificates, found that he had tampered with his DoB to
extend his services in the department.

Farooq, a Kashmir Police Service (KPS) officer who was
promoted to IPS cadre, had submitted a new DoB certificate to
the department in which his date of birth was November 1951.
But the probe panel found that in the original certificate,
his date of birth was February 1949.

As per the guidelines, Farooq should had retired in
February 2009 but he was still continuing in the office.
