Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Tuesday
signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JK Bank for
implementation of unique identification number project in the
The MoU was signed by Secretary Information and Science
Technology Manoj Dwivedi on behalf of the government and a
representative of the Bank in presence of the state
Information Minister Aga Ruhullah, an official spokesman said.
The spokesman said the project is aimed at providing
unique identification number to the citizens of the country by
the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDIA).
Under the project a 12-digit unique number will be issued
to the citizens and stored in a centralised database.
As a part of the agreement, the state government declared
the Bank as the "Registrar" for the state in implementing
the project, the spokesman said.
The Bank has been given three years to complete the job.
