J&K Govt to promote Aloevera for farm sector

Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to launch an awareness compaign to promote aloevera and other medicinal plants having a great demand in the state.

decided to launch an awareness compaign to promote aloevera
and other medicinal plants having a great demand in the state.

"I have stressed upon the officers to launch a massive
awareness campaign to promote aloe-vera and other medicinal
plants in temperate, tropical and sub-tropical areas of
Jammu region", Minister for Health Horticulture and
Floriculture Sham Lal Sharma said here today.

He said there is a great demand of aloe-vera and other
herbal products in the market and efforts should be made to
motivate more and more farmers to cultivate these crops to
change their economic strata in the region.

Sharma, who addressed the officers and farmers at a
special workshop organised by the Horticulture Department
here, today asked farmers to promote alo-vera in Jammu region
in a big way.

He said government has formulated a well-knit programme
to boost herbal and horticulture promotion in the state under
medicine plants mission, a Centrally-sponsored scheme for
which the Central government has sanctioned Rs 16 crore.
