Jammu: In view of steep rise in prices of essential commodities, Kashmiri Muslim migrants on Wednesday demanded a hundred per cent enhancement of their monthly relief.

"We demand an enhancement of monthly relief from Rs 5000 to Rs 10,000 per family for our children's education and to live a modest life", Kashmiri Muslim Migrants Committee (KMMC) president Sheikh Fida Hussain told reporters here.

The J&K government is providing each migrant family Rs 5000 per month which is not sufficient to make both ends meet in view of the price spiral, he said.

On government jobs, "they should also be given their share," Hussain said.

The government should also grant accommodation to the Muslims migrants like the ones given to Kashmiri Pandits, he said.
