J&K Police asked to step up security for I-day

Jammu and Kashmir Police has been asked to beef up security in the state.

Jammu: In view of the forthcoming
Independence Day celebrations and other important festivals
falling in August, Jammu and Kashmir Police has been
asked to beef up security in the state.

The instructions to step up security were given by
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Jammu Zone, Dilbagh Singh
at a high level meeting with range DIGs and district police
chiefs of Jammu zone here yesterday.

The officials were also directed to improve public
grievance redressal system at police station level which needs
to be monitored on regular basis by Range DIGs and District
SSPs.

Singh instructed the officials to carry out vigorous
operations to neutralise the militants and make Jammu Zone
free from militancy by the end of this year.

The IGP underlined the need for a campaign against the
drug peddlers in the coming three months as the drug menace
poses a major threat to the new generation.
