Srinagar: Asserting that the solution to
political issue of Jammu and Kashmir is on the anvil, Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday asked the political leadership of
all shades of opinion to join hands and contribute positively
and sincerely in this pursuit.

"The solution to political issue of Jammu and Kashmir
is on the anvil," Omar said after laying the foundation stone
of mega tourist circuit `Naagar Nagar` at Kathi Darwaza in
downtown Srinagar.
"The political leadership of all shades of opinion need
to join hands and contribute positively and sincerely in this
pursuit," he said.

Omar said he would continue to advocate that the basic
political issues of the state cannot be resolved by economic
measures or progress on development front.

The successful tourism season, visiting of over six
lakh visitors and an equal number of Amarnath pilgrims this
year, has not solved the political problem even as it has
largely helped economic betterment of the people in general,
he said.
The Chief Minister underlined the importance of peace
and normalcy for attaining economic and political goals.

He questioned the approach of those bent upon creating
law and order situation and marring the livelihood of poor.

Referring to the two-day strike call given by chairman
of hardline faction of Hurriyat Conference Syed Ali Shah
Geelani, Omar said by giving calls for lockouts they directly
hinder the traders to undertake their day to day business,
undermine the education of students, compel transporters to
remain idle, put commuters to a lot of inconvenience and debar
patients from receiving treatment.
