J&K: Probe ordered after man dies in govt hospital

The J&K govt has ordered a probe into circumstances that led to the death of a patient due to non-availability of doctors.

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government has
ordered a probe into circumstances that led to the death of a
patient due to non-availability of doctors at a district
hospital in Handwara in Kashmir Valley.

Minister for Forest, Mian Altaf Ahmad today informed
the Legislative Assembly that Deputy Commissioner Kupwara
would now conduct inquiry on the circumstance that led to
death of a patient Abdul Ahad Tantary.

Responding to the issue raised by the Choudhary Mohammad
Ramzan in Legislative Assembly today, the minister said that
the patient when admitted in the hospital was given the
requisite treatment by the staff, including a surgeon
specialist, who was present in the hospital.

He said Assistant Surgeon has been transferred from the
hospital.
