J&K: Students clash with police, seven injured

Students, protesting failure of the state government to appoint a Vice-Chancellor of the Central University in Jammu, on Tuesday clashed with police who resorted to cane-charge in which seven of them were injured.

cane-charge in which seven of them were injured.

Students of several colleges also boycotted classes,
staged sit-ins, took out protest marches and stopped vehicles,
police said.
At least seven students were injured when police swung
batons to disperse them.

The students were protesting what they said failure of
the Omar Abdullah government to appoint a Vice-Chancellor of
the Central University in Jammu.
They also demanded release of student leader Talib
Hussain who was arrested by police this morning.

The student leader was later released, police said.
