Srinagar: As part of the bi-annual darbar
move, Jammu and Kashmir civil secretariat and all other
government offices will close here on October 29 and will
reopen in the winter capital, Jammu next month.

According to a circular issued by Governor NN Vohra`s
office, all communications meant for the Governor and his
staff, which cannot reach Raj Bhavan, Srinagar before October
29 should be addressed to Raj Bhavan, Jammu till further
intimation.

The shifting of civil secretariat and other offices,
popularly known as `darbar move`, is a pre-independence
practice under which the state government functions six months
each in Jammu and summer capital Srinagar.

Earlier, a General Administration Department order
said all state government offices in Srinagar observing a
five-day week would shut down on October 29, while those that
were open for six days in a week, would close on October 30.

The offices including the civil secretariat will
reopen in Jammu on November 8.
