Srinagar: Twelve alleged gamblers were
arrested during a raid by police on a tourist hut enroute the famous ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir.
The tourist hut at Tangmarg, 40kms from here on the Srinagar-Gulmarg road, was raided yesterday and 12 gamblers
were arrested, a police spokesman said today.
Rs 74,480 in cash was also recovered from the accused, hailing from different parts of Srinagar and Baramulla districts, he said.
A case has been registered against the accused, who along
with two employees of Tourism Development Corporation, were
produced before a local court and chargesheeted, he said.
The employees - clerk-cum supervisor Abdul Rashid Bhat
and watchman Mudasir Ahmad Ganai - were also taken into
custody during the raid for facilitating gambling in the hut.
