J&K: Two militants killed in encounter

Two unidentified militants were Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces in forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir`s Kupwara district, officials said here.

were Thursday killed in an encounter with security forces in forest area of Handwara in north Kashmir`s Kupwara district,
officials said here.
An encounter broke out between militants and security
forces in Hamla forests in Handwara, 90 kms from here, late
last night after army and police launched a search operation
in the area, they said.

One militant was killed in the gun battle in the wee
hours today, while his associate was shot dead this afternoon,
they said, adding, the identity of the deceased could not be
ascertained immediately as the search operation in the area
was still going on.
Meanwhile, in another operation, security forces
busted a militant hideout in Kanthabagh area of Baramulla
district last night and recovered a huge cache of arms and
ammunition, they said.

The recoveries included an Under Barrel Grenade
Launcher (UBGL), three UBGL grenades, one pistol, three
magazines, 33 pistol rounds,eight AK magazines, 344 AK rounds,
one wireless set and three hand grenades.
