JK Cong asks party workers to gear up for Assembly polls

Jammu: After facing defeat in Lok Sabha polls, Congress in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday asked party workers to gear up for Assembly polls to ensure victory of its candidates.

"Rank and file of our party should gear up for the Assembly polls to be held this year," state tourism minister Gulam Ahmed Mir told party workers, who had gathered to discuss?the post-Lok Sabha poll situation in Anantnag district today.

Amid demands from workers to go alone in the Assembly polls, Mir said they should start strengthening their base, hold meetings and reach out to the people with the achievements of the Congress in the state.

The Assembly polls are due in the state later this year.
