J&K polls: 218 candidates file nomination for 5th phase

 A total of 218 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the fifth and the last phase of the ongoing assembly elections in the state, polling for which is scheduled for December 20.

Jammu: A total of 218 candidates have filed their nomination papers for the fifth and the last phase of the ongoing assembly elections in the state, polling for which is scheduled for December 20.

"On the last day of filing of nomination today, in all 218 candidates have filed their papers for the fifth phase of Assembly elections to be held on December 20 covering 20 constituencies spread over three districts of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri," an official of the election commission said.

He said that in Bani Assembly Constituency, 11 candidates have filed their nomination papers, Basohli 15, Kathua 22, Billawar 10, Hiranagar 14, Nagrota seven, Gandhi Nagar eight, Jammu four, Jammu West 10, Bishnah 10, R S Pura 10, Suchetgarh 9, Marh eight, Raipur Domana 12, Akhnoor five, Chhamb eight, Nowshera 11, Darhal 15, Rajouri 18, and Kalakote 11.

The scrutiny of the papers would be held on December 4 and December 6 is the last day for withdrawal of nomination.
