Police authorities have asked for strengthening of security at the Jammu railway station in view of the Assembly Election in the state.

Jammu: Police authorities have asked for strengthening of security at the Jammu railway station in view of the Assembly Election in the state.

Keeping in view of the polls, due in November, a security review of of the station was held by DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, yesterday.

We have passed necessary directions to the officers with regard to strengthening of security arrangements in and around the railway station Jammu in view of the elections in the state, Beig said.

The DIG, who along with committee members inspected the railway station, also advised for plugging any loopholes relating to security aspects.

Beig said that security of the station needs to be upgraded especially in view of the forthcoming election as large number of forces from the country are likely to reach Jammu by train.

He also reviewed the functioning CCTV control room at the Jammu station.

He added that though the internal area of the station has been adequately covered under CCTV range, yet there is need of coverage of outer area facing the station by surveillance cameras in order to avoid untoward incident.
