Srinagar: JKNPP today sought the intervention of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in releasing all political prisoners and youths detained under the Public Safety Act during last two months of violence in the Valley to enable them spend Ramadan with their families.

"I urge the Prime Minister to intervene in the release of all political prisoners and youths arrested under the PSA so that they can spend the holy month of Ramadan, likely to begin from Aug 13, with their families," Chairman Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Bhim Singh said in a statement here.

He also appealed to the people, particularly the youths, to remain composed during Ramadan. "The youths should remain composed and restrain themselves from expressing their anger during Ramadan so that blessings of the month reach every home and heart."

Singh also asked the state government to lift all road blockades in the valley during religious festivities.
