JKNPP to protest in support of Jammu migrants

The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Monday threatened to launch a protest rally outside Vidhan Sabha on the opening day of upcoming Budget Assembly session in support of the demands of Jammu migrants.

Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party Monday threatened to launch a protest rally outside Vidhan Sabha on the opening day of upcoming Budget Assembly session in support of the demands of Jammu migrants.

"JKNPP will protest along with the migrants outside the Assembly on February 28, when Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra will address the joint legislature," party`s General Secretary Anita Thakur said.

Raising the issue of migrants from Jammu region, particularly the people from Talwara camp in district Reasi, Thakur said even though the apex court of the country had directed the government to treat them at par with Kashmiri migrants they continue to suffer the discrimination.
"Jammu migrants, including Talwara camping migrants, are being discriminated by the J&K government ever since their forcible migration from their respective areas," she alleged.

"They are treated as enemies in spite of the clear directive of the Supreme Court to the Government of India and state government to provide them relief at par with Kashmiri migrants," Thakur added.
She also appealed to the legislators of all political parties to support the Jammu migrants by joining hands with the JKNPP legislators inside the two houses.
