Srinagar: Moderate Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umer Farooq on Tuesday said the solution to Kashmir issue holds key to the peace and friendly ties between India and Pakistan.

"Without a just solution to the issue (Kashmir), peace and prosperity will elude the region and so will be the dream of good ties between India and Pakistan," Mirwaiz said in a statement.

Meanwhile, a Muslim delegation from Myanmar led by Hashim Yousuf met Mirwaiz at his residence and sought his help in highlighting the atrocities being committed on the Muslims in the country.
"Yousuf briefed Mirwaiz about the genocide of Muslims in Burma, and atrocities being committed on them and sought his help in highlighting the issue to mobilise the support of OIC, Islamic world, the United Nations and Human Rights Groups," a Hurriyat spokesman said.
