Kashmir hospitality groups issue appeal to Amarnath yatris
About 15 organisations of tourist trade and hospitality industry in Kashmir today asked the people of the country not to "lend ears to the rumours" being spread about Amarnath Yatra.

trade and hospitality industry in Kashmir today asked the
people of the country not to "lend ears to the rumours" being
spread about Amarnath Yatra and said it is ingrained in
Kashmiri ethos to welcome the pilgrims with open arms.
In a statement, these organisations affirmed their
resolve to welcome the pilgrims undertaking the yatra.
"We stand to welcome with open arms our brothers and
sisters who would come to undertake the holy Amarnathji yatra.
Our cultural ethos and tolerant Sufi traditions have (been)
inculcated in our soul what world generally regards as
Kashmiri hospitality," the statement said.
It said that in line with the tolerant Sufi culture of
Kashmir, they would continue to provide the yatris with best
of the possible facilities.
"We want to assure our esteemed guests undertaking the
yatra that in line with our past and tradition we will
continue to provide you with as best and soothing stay here as
possible. Kashmir is known for its composite culture and
respect for divergent feelings has been a part of it," the
The organisations said there is no truth in any of the
"rumours" being spread outside Kashmir regarding the conduct
of yatra and asked the yatris to come for themselves to
experience Kashmiri hospitality and on return be the "brand
ambassadors" of Kashmir and its people.
"We wish to clarify any misgiving or misconception, if
any, created on this count by some elements. There is no truth
in any of the rumours. We are eagerly waiting for you," the
statement issued by representatives of these organisations
The appeal was jointly issued among others by Travel
Agents Society of Kashmir (TASK), J and K Tourism Alliance, J
and K Chapter of Indian Association of Tour Operators,
Association of Domestic Tour Operators, Kashmir Hotel &
Restaurants Association, Houseboat Owners Association, Tourist
Taxi Operators Association, Shikara Owners Association and
Shikara Owners Federation.
