Kashmir relief: ITC, SSB, SRM varsity donate generously

ITC chairman YC Deveshwar Saturday donated Rs.10 crore towards the Prime Minister`s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said.

New Delhi: ITC chairman YC Deveshwar Saturday donated Rs.10 crore towards the Prime Minister`s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the flood-affected people of Jammu and Kashmir, an official statement said.

Sashastra Seema Bal chief B.D. Sharma donated Rs.2.12 crore on behalf of the force, while the founder chancellor of Chennai`s SRM University, T.R. Pachamuthu, donated Rs.1 crore for the PMNRF, the statement from the Prime Minister`s Office said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently appealed to the nation to contribute generously and to "stand shoulder to shoulder" with the distressed people of flood-ravaged Jammu and Kashmir, from where 130,000 people have been rescued.

Srinagar is battling the worst floods in 60 years which have left thousands of people homeless.
