Lashkar sympathiser arrested in Baramulla

An over ground worker (OGW) of the Lashkar-e-Toiba, allegedly involved in the murder of Hurriyat leader Sheikh Aziz in 2008, was on Thursday arrested in north Kashmir`s Baramulla district, police said.

the Lashkar-e-Toiba, allegedly involved in the murder of
Hurriyat leader Sheikh Aziz in 2008, was on Thursday arrested in
north Kashmir`s Baramulla district, police said.

The OGW, identified as Showkat Ahmad Khan of Khanpora
village in Baramulla, was arrested at a check-point in nearby
Kanispora locality, a police spokesman said.

Khan, a former militant, was active during the late
1990s and he was arrested for his involvement in the murder of
moderate Hurriyat leader, he said.

He had provided the weapon of offence to the prime
accused in the Sheikh Aziz murder case and after his release
he had continued to be affiliated to the banned militant
outfit, the spokesman said.

Khan was also wanted in an attempt to murder case of
an engineer in Baramulla district.
