LeT courier held with Rs 2.4 lakh hawala money

Police on Wednesday achieved a major breakthrough by arresting a Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba courier from city`s outskirts and recovered Rs 2.4 lakh from him, a police spokesman said here.

breakthrough by arresting a Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Toiba
courier from city`s outskirts and recovered Rs 2.4 lakh from
him, a police spokesman said here.

Acting on a tip-off, special operation group of state
police laid a special naka at Narwal, on the outskirts of city
this afternoon, he said adding that they intercepted a vehicle
carrying the suspected person but he ignored the signal and
fled away.

However, police personnel chased and apprehended him
after some distance and during frisking Rs 2.4 lakh were
recovered from his possession, the spokesman said.

The person carrying the money was identified as Mohd
Hussain, he said and added the recovered hawala money was
reportedly meant for the LeT divisional commander of Doda.

Police has registered a case against him under unlawful
activities prevention act and further investigations into the
matter is on.
