Locals near the revered Hazratbal shrine staged protests against the use of substandard material in the renovation of the shrine.
Srinagar: Local residents near the revered Hazratbal shrine Tuesday staged protests against the Muslim Waqf Board for allegedly using substandard material in the renovation of the shrine.
Hundreds of residents raised slogans against the Board officials after a few marble slabs were found to have come out of the dome of the shrine located on the banks of Dal Lake, police sources said.
They said the residents were alleging that the Board authorities had used substandard material which resulted in the marble slabs falling off the dome.
The protestors later dispersed off peacefully, they said.
Renovation work on the shrine has been going on for the last couple of years.
