Srinagar: Kashmir Valley witnessed a considerable increase in night temperature even as weather department has predicted fresh snowfall and rain in the
"Western disturbances are approaching and rain and snow is expected at many places from tomorrow evening," a MeT official said.
Summer capital Srinagar witnessed an increase of more than five degrees in the night temperature with minimum temperature here settling at 3.0 degrees Celsius, he said.
The skiing resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir and Pahalgam resort in south Kashmir were the only places in the Valley where mercury stayed below freezing point.
In Gulmarg, night temperature increased by 3.6 notches recording a low of minus 2.4 degrees Celsius.
Pahalgam recorded an increase of five degrees as the minimum temperature settled there at minus 1.0 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Ladakh region continues to remain in the grip of an intense cold wave.
Even though Leh town recorded an increase of more than two notches the minimum temperature there remained 12 degrees below freezing point.
Kargil town was the only place in the region which witnessed a decrease in the night temperature with a minimum of minus 12.0 degrees Celsius.
