Militants’ return: J&K rejects 132 applications

J&K government has rejected 132 applications of militants, who wanted to return home from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir under the rehabilitation policy.

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government
has rejected 132 applications of militants, who wanted to
return home from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) under the
rehabilitation policy.
The high-level committee constituted by the government for
screening applications of the militants has not cleared 132
cases, the state government informed the Assembly.

The government said it has received 1,011 applications on
behalf of the ex-militants belonging to Jammu and Kashmir who
has crossed over to PoK for training and wanted to return
under the `Militants Rehabilitation Policy`.
The committee constituted by the government has
scrutinised 275 cases till date. As many as 67 cases have been
cleared and sent to Union Home Ministry. Besides, 76 cases are
in the final stage of verification and screening.

In a response to another question, the government said it
had no proposal to grant general amnesty to those involved in
militancy in Kashmir.
