Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir government has said that convoys of the military and para-military forces should not ply on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway for four days on which state government employees would move from Jammu to Srinagar.
This was decided at a meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary Madav Lal here in order to review the arrangements being made in connection with the `Darbar` move from Jammu to Srinagar.
Keeping with the century-old tradition of change of capital, offices, including the Civil Secretariat, Jammu and Kashmir Legislature and Rajbhawan will close down on April 27 in Jammu, the winter capital city.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Traffic has to ensure that the convoys don`t ply on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on the day of movement of employees from Jammu to Srinagar April 28, 29, and May 5 and 6.
According to a Government Order issued on April 11, the offices observing five days week shall close at Jammu on April 27 whereas the offices observing six days week shall close on April 28, after the office hours and reopen at Srinagar on May 7 for the annual move.
It was decided in the meeting that Managing Director, J-K SRTC would ensure adequate arrangements of transportation for carrying employees and record from Jammu to Srinagar on April 28, 29 and May 5 and 6.
