Jammu: PMO Minister Jitendra Singh on Monday announced that he will adopt two landslide-hit villages in Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency of Jammu and Kashmir for their all-round development.
The Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office is on a tour to the flood-hit areas of Jammu region to assess the rescue and relief operations.
Singh, who undertook an extensive tour of flood-hit parts in district Reasi, announced that as an elected MP from the Udhampur Lok Sabha seat, he was ready to "adopt" the two flood-ravaged villages Saddal and Seeri of this constituency for reconstruction and rebuilding purposes.
Later, at a review meeting of Reasi district administration, Gen K H Singh, GOC 16 Corps briefed the minister about the rescue work done by the Army, an official statement issued here tonight said.
The minister assured the district authorities that there will be no dearth of relief material from the Centre, and therefore they should not exercise any limitation in providing relief to the affected people.
