Mughal Road to be completed by March 2011: J&K minister

Jammu and Kashmir government on Thursday said that the Mughal Road, an alternate link between Kashmir and rest of the country, would be completed by March 2011.

said that the Mughal Road, an alternate link between Kashmir
and rest of the country, would be completed by March 2011.

"Work has been accelerated on the Mughal Road project
from both the sides; Poonch in Jammu and Shopian in South
Kashmir to ensure its completion by March 2011," minister
for roads and buildings GM Saroori told reporters here.

He said 22 excavators have been put into service from
Shopian and 26 from Poonch side to speed up the work on the
project.

"Some more machines are being pressed into service
besides augmenting of labour force," he added.

Saroori said that Rs 270 crore have been incurred so far
out of total estimated and approved cost of Rs 639 crore
funded by the Centre.
