Ganderbal (JK): Jammu and Kashmir Chief
Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said his efforts to soften the
provisions of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) and
reduction of troops in the state have suffered a setback due
to the ongoing unrest in the valley.
Addressing a public meeting here, Omar said his
persistent advocacy and campaign for gradual reduction of
forces in the state and softening of Armed Forces Special
Powers Act (AFSPA) provisions had started yielding results.
"...but the law and order situation created by certain
elements in the Valley during the last over three months has
given considerable setback to my endeavours in this regard,"
he said adding "however, I will continue to work in this
direction despite all odds."
