New Delhi: Information and Broadcasting
Minister Ambika Soni today said there are no differences in
the Union Cabinet on the issue of withdrawal of Armed Forces
(Special Powers) Act from Jammu and Kashmir.

Acknowledging that the situation in Kashmir was
"serious", she said "there are no differences (on AFSPA).
Discussions are needed before a decision can be taken."

She was responding to a question on the demands from
certain quarters for repealing or diluting AFSPA in the state.

Soni said the main concern was how to improve the
situation in the state. Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing
violent protests for the past three months.

She said one has to take into confidence the youth and
make them believe that their future is with India.
"We have to bring them together," she said.
