None involved in ISIS flag waving linked with militancy: Omar
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said none of the persons involved in waving of ISIS flags in the city had any links to militancy.
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday said none of the persons involved in waving of ISIS flags in the city had any links to militancy.
"Police has conducted an inquiry into it and most of the people who have been found to be waving (ISIS) flags have been identified ... Till now, none among them has been found to be related to militancy," Omar told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.
The Chief Minister said a case has been registered against those involved in flag waving incidents.
Army had raised concerns over the waving of the ISIS flags by some youth during protests in old city area saying it was cause of concern and deserved highest attention of the security grid.
"Now, why did they wave those flags, that can be known after the inquiry is over," he said.
The chief minister had earlier rubbished the waving of ISIS flag in the Valley as an act by "some idiots" which the media was "unfortunately" trying to highlight.
"You have to understand that no ISIS group has been identified so far in the Valley. The flag of the ISIS was waved by some idiots which does not mean that ISIS has any presence in Kashmir. Unfortunately, some channels have tried to make an issue out of this and drag me into this as if we are not doing anything on this," Omar had said previous week.
