Omar directs monitoring of reservation policy

Laying stress on strict monitoring of reservation policy, J&K CM said he would not accept any laxity in this regard.

Jammu: Laying stress on strict monitoring of
reservation policy aimed to benefit backward communities,
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said he
would not accept any laxity in this regard.

"I directed for strict monitoring of legal frame work
aimed at ensuring benefits of reservation and other perks to
SCs, STs and other backward sections of the society. No laxity
in this regard will be acceptable," Omar said.

The CM said this after chairing a meeting of J&K State
Advisory Board for the welfare and development of Scheduled
Castes (SCs) here.

He said equitable development of all sections of the
society with focus on poorer sections is the policy of his
government.

"We are determined to uplift the backward and poorer
sections and bring them at par with affluent classes by
providing equal opportunities for holistic progress," he said.

He also said scholarship standard needs to be expanded to
cover more meritorious students under its ambit.

"There should be different categories of merit for
granting scholarships to the students of these sections
ensuring higher rates for higher merit," he said.
