Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister
Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said there was a need to strengthen ties
between the National Conference and the Congress, coalition
partners in the state, from the grassroot level.
"We should strengthen coalition ties between NC and
Congress from the grassroot level. Party cadres at all levels
will have to play their role in this direction positively,"
he said.
The Chief Minister was addresing National Conference
office-bearers and workers at Sher-i-Kashmir Bhawan here.
On curbing corruption and providing good governance, he
said Jammu and Kashmir had enacted and implemented the Public
Service Guarantee Act (PSGA) in this regard.
"This will not only ensure timely delivery of public
service to the people but also reduce chances of corruption to
a greater extent," he said.
Strengthening of the RTI Act and making the Information
Commission operative would also help in curbing corruption,
Omar said.
The Accountability Commission had also been made
functional while the Vigilance Commission was in the pipeline,
he said.
The establishment of Panchayat Raj in the state would
give a new dimension to the development process and help
reduce chances of corruption in public life, the Chief
