Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday met a senior politician of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), who was here to attend a wedding ceremony, and discussed issues concerning India and Pakistan.
Abdullah met so-called former prime minister of PoK Sultan Mehmood Chaudhury at the wedding and spent nearly 20 minutes behind closed doors, sources said adding the two
leaders discussed the situation on either side of Line of Control (LoC).
Dialogue process between India and Pakistan and the confidence-building measures announced by the two countries were also discussed, they said.
Chaudhury interacted with several mainstream politicians including CPI(M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Nizamuddin Bhat and Basharat Bukhari, both MLAs of opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), the sources said.
Chaudhury had arrived here yesterday to attend the wedding ceremony of Yasir Watali, son of a leading Kashmiri industrialist Zahoor Ahmad Watali.
Earlier in the day, the former PoK premier visited Gulmarg tourist resort and went shopping at upmarket residency road here.
He had visited Hazratbal, Eidgah graveyard and Dal Lake yesterday.
