Operation tunnel hunt! India on look out for more Pak terror holes on border
Expressing concern over the discovery of tunnels in the border region, Singh said the tunnels are not used for smuggling but definitely for infiltration purpose.
New Delhi: India's Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday announced to launch a special drive to unearth cross-border tunnels along the boundary with Pakistan, days after a 50-meter long underground passage was discovered in the Jammu region.
Lt General KJ Singh, GOC, Western Command, said that the BSF has started a process to find out cross-border tunnels along the boundary with Pakistan.
On Thursday, BSF had discovered a 50-meter long tunnel at the border to facilitate infiltration from Pakistan. It was discovered in Jammu's RS Pura sector.
Expressing concern over the discovery of a tunnel in the border region, Singh said it was definitely not used for smuggling but for infiltration.
"The tunnel has a height of three to four feet and its objective is to facilitate infiltration from across the border. We have filled up the tunnel on our side and lodged a strong protest with the Pakistan Rangers," an official said.
