A Parliamentary panel today began its three-day visit to Leh, Kargil and other areas of Ladakh to get an insight into the role of the army in remote and inhospitable terrain.

Ladakh to get an insight into the role of the army in remote
and inhospitable terrain.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, led
by Congress MP Satpal Maharaj, visited army establishments in
Eastern Ladakh and interacted with troops.

The Committee, comprising 20 MPs, also visited the
`Fire and Fury` Corps headquarters to get an insight into the
role of the army in inhospitable areas, a defence spokesman
said.

He said the members were briefed about the world`s
highest battlefield in Siachen Glacier.

On day one, the Committee also visited the Defence
Institute of Horticulture and Agriculture Research (DIHAR) at
Leh.
