Jammu: Workers of BJP and PDP on Sunday celebrated the formation of coalition government in Jammu and Kashmir, by bursting crackers and dancing to music.
Following the oath taking ceremony by People's Democratic Party (PDP) patron Mufti Mohd Sayeed as Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and ministers, party workers celebrated the occasion in a festive mood at party office in Gandhi Nagar here.
Over 300 workers danced to tunes of 'dholaks' and burst crackers to celebrate the government formation.
"It is time for Jammu and Kashmir to register development in all sectors with Mufti Sayeed sahib taking as Chief Minister again. We are very happy," PDP worker Rano Devi said.
PDP workers led by Rajinder Manhas raised victory slogans and exchanged greetings with each other. Sweets were distributed outside the PDP office and firecrackers were set off to celebrate.
Addressing the workers, senior leader and former MLC Ved Mahajan said that PDP-BJP govt is a historic opportunity to fulfill the aspirations of the people of the state and take it to new heights of progress.
Similar celebrations were seen in several places in the city particularly at BJP headquarters, where people and BJP workers celebrated the formation of the first BJP-partnered government in the state.
The workers, who in large numbers thronged the BJP headquarter, burst crackers and showered flowers on some of the newly appointed Ministers amid dancing to the the beats of dholaks and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' slogans.
"BJP has created a history by forming government in J&K in alliance. We never thought that BJP will be in government in J&K. We are very happy," Shamsher Chand, a BJP member said.
