Jammu: An organisation of displaced persons of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Friday lauded and thanked Jammu and Kashmir government for approving a Rs 9000 crore financial package for the settlement of the refugee families.

"We thank J&K government, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Ghulam Nabi Azad, Prof Saif-ud-Din Soz and all cabinet ministers for extending the financial package to our community," Chairman of SOS International, Rajiv Chuni told reporters here today.

Chuni said the community members, who had to flee from their homes in PoK in 1947 and were forced to lead a pitiable life in dilapidated scattered camps spread across the Jammu province, can now feel a little honoured.

Chuni, however, rued that the package should have come 60 years ago in 1954 when the then Cabinet accorded temporary rehabilitation to his community.
