Power cut draws protest in Jammu

Jammu: A protest rally was on Sunday taken out in Jammu against chronic power outages and inconsistent water supply in the region.

Activists of Shiv Sena and Dogra Front marched in the city, alleging that Jammu is being ignored as the state government is not willing to solve the genuine issues of the people of the region.

"The government is not providing regular electricity and water to the people, instead they just go on increasing the tariffs. The PHE and electricity department earn maximum revenue from the Jammu region, but still its people are facing crisis," state president of Shiv Sena and Dogra Front, Ashok Gupta, said.

He said that since the Secretariat had shifted to the summer capital Srinagar, people in Jammu were being forced to face power and water crisis.

"It seems that after the darbar move to Srinagar, the coalition government has diverted the electricity to the Valley as well," he said.
"They are least bothered about the people or the problems faced by them," he added.
Gupta warned to intensify the campaign against the state government if no action was not taken on these issues.
