Protesters block Jammu-Poonch road against adjustment of ReTs

More than 4,000 people Wednesday blocked Jammu-Poonch highway at Surankote for about three hours to protest adjustment of Rehbar-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers of Mendhar zone in their area.

of Mendhar zone in their area.

The protestors, raising slogans against the authorities of education department, came out in strength and blocked the road at Surankote, about 210-kms from Jammu,
officials said.

They were demanding that ReT teachers of Mendhar zone should not be adjusted in Surankote as it will affect the employment prospect of people of their own area.

Poonch Deputy Commissioner Kuldeep Khajuria, SSP Poonch Manmohan Singh alongwith other officers rushed to the spot and assured the protestors that their demands will be conveyed to the higher authorities after which the highway was cleared, they said.

The demonstration came in wake of an education department order which said 56 ReTs were posted to Surankote zone from Mendhar zone.
