Redress grievances of Maharashtra tour operators: J&K minister

Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister wants officers to work out a mechanism on the lines of Himachal Pradesh where tax is charged from such agencies on a quarterly basis.

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora on Saturday asked Transport Department officers to examine the demand of Maharashtra tour operators and work out a mechanism on the lines of Himachal Pradesh where tax is charged from such agencies on a quarterly basis.
The directions came in the wake of representations made by the Maharashtra tour organisers association and some hoteliers of Kashmir pointing out that the Transport Department was charging entry tax of Rs 2,000 per bus per day.
Jora asked the officers to redress "genuine" grievances of the tour operators and hoteliers.
