Srinagar: Authorities on Friday imposed restrictions in parts of Srinagar in view of apprehensions of law and order problems on the occasion of Independence Day of Pakistan.

Restrictions under section 144 have been imposed in parts of Srinagar in view of the apprehensions of law and order problems, a senior police officer said.

He said restrictions have been imposed in police station areas of Rainawari, Khanyar, MR Gunj, Safakdal, Nowhata and Maisuma.

Police and paramilitary CRPF personnel have been deployed in strength in sensitive areas to prevent anti-national elements from fomenting trouble, the officer said.

Every year, August 14 sees instances of waving of Pakistani flags in some areas of the city. This year, though, such flags have been waved by some youths on almost every Friday over the past few months.
