Reversing status of J&K to pre-1953 would lead to chaos: BJP

Jammu: Fearing the reversal of status of
Jammu and Kashmir to the pre-1953 position, state BJP on Wednesday
warned that "tacit" revival of Justice Sagheer Ahmed Committee
report, which dwelt on crucial subjects of autonomy, self-rule
and Centre-state relations, would lead to dangerous
countrywide reactions.
"BJP warns against any mischief on J&K through Sagheer
Commission report. We raise serious objections to the tacit
revival of the report by resuming the sittings of the
government appointed sub-committee," the BJP state chief
spokesperson and national executive member Jitendra Singh told
reporters here today.

BJP leader warned of a dangerous countrywide reaction
in case there was any attempt to reverse the hands of clock in
the state.

Justice Sagheer Ahmed Committee was set up by Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh during UPA-I in 2005 and dwelt on
crucial subjects of autonomy, self-rule and Article 370
besides other major issues.

The report had triggered a controversy as several
political parties had objections over it.

Jitendra Singh described it as a mischievous move
deliberately timed with the submission of final part of Dileep
Padgaonkar led Interlocutors` report and said "this smacks of
the Congress led UPA government`s connivance with the
NC-Congress coalition government in the state to achieve the
ulterior motive of reversing the status of Jammu and Kashmir
to pre-1953 position".
Singh warned that in no case will the BJP tolerate
any such design that tends to weaken the relationship of Jammu
and Kashmir with the rest of India, either physically
or psychologically.

He said the BJP`s consistent stand has been full and
complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir with the Union of
India.

Referring to it as a dangerous conspiracy being
hatched by New Delhi to facilitate the continuance of NC led
government in the state, Jitendra Singh said that BJP will not
allow the sentiments of the nationalist sections to be taken
for granted.
