warned that "tacit" revival of Justice Sagheer Ahmed Committee
report, which dwelt on crucial subjects of autonomy, self-rule
and Centre-state relations, would lead to dangerous
"BJP warns against any mischief on J&K through Sagheer
Commission report. We raise serious objections to the tacit
revival of the report by resuming the sittings of the
government appointed sub-committee," the BJP state chief
spokesperson and national executive member Jitendra Singh told
reporters here today.
BJP leader warned of a dangerous countrywide reaction
in case there was any attempt to reverse the hands of clock in
Justice Sagheer Ahmed Committee was set up by Prime
Minister Manmohan Singh during UPA-I in 2005 and dwelt on
crucial subjects of autonomy, self-rule and Article 370
besides other major issues.
The report had triggered a controversy as several
political parties had objections over it.
Jitendra Singh described it as a mischievous move
deliberately timed with the submission of final part of Dileep
Padgaonkar led Interlocutors` report and said "this smacks of
the Congress led UPA government`s connivance with the
NC-Congress coalition government in the state to achieve the
ulterior motive of reversing the status of Jammu and Kashmir
to pre-1953 position".
Singh warned that in no case will the BJP tolerate
any such design that tends to weaken the relationship of Jammu
and Kashmir with the rest of India, either physically
