Sanction for Golf Course at Jammu

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Thursday accorded sanction for the construction of an 18-hole Golf Course at a cost of Rs 37.39 crores in the winter capital of the state.

The approval for the construction of the golf course at Sidhra in Jammu region was given at a Cabinet meeting held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah here, an official spokesman said.

The Tourism Department has developed a 9-hole golf course at Sanasar in Jammu region while there are other Golf Courses in the winter capital like Army Golf Course Miran Sahib, BSF Golf Course Paloura and Army Golf Course at Nagrota.

On July 15, Omar laid the foundation stone of the Rs 12 crores 18-hole international standard golf course in frontier Ladakh region completing the State's golf circuit -covering Jammu, Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Leh. The Golf course at Leh will be developed over an area of 76 hectares and is expected to be completed within the next two years.
